Features InNat
The InNat project was created to promote knowledge in Italy of the Natura 2000 Network and the Habitat Directive, using the innovative tool of Citizen Science.
With the birth of the START2000 project, the Citizen Science program has been expanded and now through the InNat app it is possible to send and view wildlife data collected by citizens relating to the presence of 34 species of insects (8 dragonflies, 2 orthoptera, 7 beetles and 17 butterflies), a freshwater crustacean (the crayfish), 3 plant species and 2 habitats, all included in Annexes II and / or IV of the Habitats Directive and therefore protected at European level. This program therefore represents an important tool for public involvement in nature conservation and has made it possible to increase data on biodiversity in our territory.
The data collected and validated by experts are available on the project portal and shared with the national database of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the National Network for Biodiversity (NNB).At the same time, InNAt intends to carry out an intense training activity for the managers of the Natura 2000 Network aimed at the operational implementation of monitoring and national reporting required by Articles 11 and 17 of the Habitats Directive, in particular for insects of community interest.
